I’ve mentioned this book cover a couple of times, but this is the first that I can show it. I don’t know when it comes out, but keep your eye out here for news on the release.
The version that will be on the book is much higher rez, and no watermark of course. This was done completely in Painter12. I even spent about an hour making a custom “image hose” brush for the snowflakes. There is a mirror tool in painter that allows you to do kaleidoscope stuff. I made about 10 unique snowflakes using it and used them with the image hose. I set it so that it would give each flake a random rotation and the size would depend on how much pressure I used on the stylus.
There were numerous layers for all the different parts and shades and glows.
The face was a bit different style than I normally do, and it was a lot of fun to try something a little different. Stephanie and I went back and forth a fair bit until I got the look just right.
