jack and the beanstalk

I’ve been working on a storybook app with a friend of mine. This project was my excuse to learn digital painting. I decided to go with Painter12. From the title you can tell that it is a retelling of Jack and the Beanstalk. I finished the artwork up yesterday, and I’m pretty happy with it. I can’t wait to see the finished app.

beansThis was the first image I drew of Jack. I wanted him to look confidant, and yet still a kid.   outTheWindowI wouldn’t call glowing beans worthless…

climb I wanted the beanstalk to feel like it was actually 3 stalks (one from each bean) so I game them 3 slightly different colors

theGiantI thought it would be funny if the giants house had modern appliances, as opposed to the medieval life below him

axeInHandThe chickens didn’t seem phased by a giant beanstalk, but they seem cautious of that axe
